Is “Big Brother” Watching You Cultivate Your Crop?

As usual, Bill Maher was on point with his recent assertion that, in addition to weather gone wild – as those on the East Coast have learned – it’s not really a problem for humans to concern themselves with, so long as you don’t mind having a boat in your front yard. Be that as it may, the elephant in the room throughout the last four presidential debates – that was never discussed by the two major parties, is the American public’s frustration with the federal government’s ill-conceived war on weed. This poorly planned conflict against its own people is possibly the most vile use of the public tax dollars since the last time Richard Nixon cashed his presidential paycheck. Source

Hurricane Sandy Blows Away East Coast Harvest? | Marijuana.com

Hurricane Sandy Blows Away East Coast Harvest? | Marijuana.com

October around the country is generally considered harvest time. Growers get weird and cynical from too many months of fighting back insects’, mold and thieves. Regardless of whether you were an outdoor cultivator or an indoor hydroponics specialist, hurricane Sandy offered up a whole new set of obstacles for you to overcome the last few days.  As medical patients and recreational smokers alike, scramble up and down the eastern seaboard like a pack of wild dogs, searching for generators, tarps and anything else they might useful to stabilize their hard-earned crop, the super-storm of the century gathered up power and slammed ashore.
Sandy made landfall between New York City and New Jersey late Monday afternoon with an opening salvo of 80 mph sustained winds, which cut power to more than 6 million homes from the embattled state of Ohio, all the way down to South Carolina. The storm not only left the indoor medical marijuana grower struggling for power and scrambling for a way to finish their growth cycle, but she also put the presidential campaign into an indefinite holding pattern – just one week before the election.
As the Franke-n-storm lived up to its grim expectations air travel along the eastern seaboard was ceased, houses were boarded up and people were asked to leave their low-lying houses. The storm which is estimated to cause approximate $20 billion in damage to the US economy, will no doubt also damage the eastern seaboard’s entire outdoor crop of marijuana for 2012.
So what does this mean?

October 16, 2012: Fed's Forced To Review Marijuana As Medicine | Marijuana.com

The CSA or controlled substance act… Presently has medical marijuana classified as a schedule 1 narcotic, thereby dooming it as a drug that has been labeled “addictive,” … “High risk for abuse”… And “no proven medical value.” Bullshit…lies and propaganda.

Master Yoda Marijuana Strain: "The Force Is Strong With This One" | Marijuana.com

Master Yoda Marijuana Strain: "The Force Is Strong With This One" | Marijuana.com

Weed - Master Yoda Marijuana Strain: “The Force Is Strong With This One”
As new names for medical marijuana strains seem to surface-based on the news cycle, and the crazy things that happen there. Think Charlie Sheen OGLinsanity OGBlue Ivy OG… I think you get my point. So it is indeed a joyful moment to look down at today’s medical marijuana strain of the day and know that ‘the force is strong’ with this new strain of Master Yoda.
No one in their right mind would ever doubt that the force of good genetics is strong with Master Yoda. Just ask the judges which gave Master Yoda a first in the hybrid category at the recent, 1st annual high times medical cannabis cup held in downtown Los Angeles. The proud cultivator of this distinct flower is a grower for a local Los Angeles collective, known as the “Kush Connection.”
The highly sought after genetics contained within Master Yoda is the direct result of an ingenious cross between OG Kush F-1 and it’s not so distant cousin, Master Kush P-1. One of the more interesting benefits of winning the top prize for your genetics, at any of the high times cannabis cup events. Is the increased public presence of your product… and Master Yoda certainly received its fair share.
Thanks to the little green guys victory at the LA event, Master Yoda has cultivated a strong following throughout United States, from the West Coast to the East Coast. Once placed on the pedestal… of ‘First-place winner,’ at high times cannabis cup; cultivators, seed breeders and collectives alike have all had a hard time keeping Master Yoda in stock. That could be for a very good reason. Any strain, whether Kush dominant or not, that’s capable of capturing and holding the attention of the well-educated, Southern California medical marijuana patients, has a lot going for it.
With Master Yoda’s testing coming in at a respectable 20.67% THC, one does not have to be well-versed in the Star Wars trilogy to understand that …”the force is strong with this one.” So for those mmj patients with an elevated sense of tolerance, that would like to medicate with… and become, a “red eye Jedi,”  traveling to a collective that is not “ in a galaxy far, far away” would be the right place to start your training.
Master Yoda’s high provides both the pain relief properties of an Indica, in conjunction with the elevating effects of a sativa. In the world of marijuana genetics and hybrids “Master Yoda” does not disappoint, performing like the master hybrid it is. With a shortened budding period of just under 60 days,  Master Yoda should prove to be an incredibly popular option for the home cultivator concerned about harvesting the best buds, on a shortened schedule.

Weed - Raising Arizona…Medical Marijuana “Rent–A-Grow-Tent” Cultivation Facility
Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn’t the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?
– Bill Hicks, Comedian
From the outside of this unassuming Arizona warehouse district building, one could easily be deceived by its inconspicuous businesslike façade. However if you are an Arizona medical marijuana patient, who is looking to learn how to grow some of the more potent strains of MMJ, than compassion first is your new favorite spot.
As Gerald Gaines stood before his press conference, he explained to the surrounding business owners, potential clients and the local press. Exactly what his business model entailed, and who could participate in it. In addition, Mr. Gaines provided a guided tour for all who potentially cared to learn what was going on behind his closed doors, and that they had nothing to fear from his facility: designed solely as a communal marijuana garden.

Mr. Gaines is incredibly proud of his brand-new facility, which is the first of its kind in the nation to operate within these parameters. Within the 5000 ft. facility, the indoor cultivation area has been subdivided into six different cultivation areas. Within the entire facility, there are 45 grow tents which have been built, equipped and are ready to be rented out. In order to participate though, you will need your Arizona medical marijuana recommendation and state caregivers’ license.

Marijuana Collectives Can Deduct POT as "COGS" | Marijuana.com

Marijuana Collectives Can Deduct POT as "COGS" | Marijuana.com
Just as a means of keeping everyone involved in this case on their toes… And scratching their head. Judge Krupa after stating all the reasons that the vapor room could not deduct the cost of goods sold went on to explain how the vapor room should still be allowed to subtract his “costs of goods sold.” Of course his normal “COGS” was primarily the bulk of his marijuana purchases for the resale in his collective. As with any normal business your “cost of goods sold” is generally allowed to be subtracted from your gross receipts, in order to determine the taxpayers IRS responsibility. As the vapor room room reported its costs of goods sold totaled a little under $1 million for the tax year of 2004… And approximately 2.7 million for the 2005 tax year. When looking at his total income that $3.8 million encompassed approximately 90% of his businesses gross revenue. Declaring that the vapor rooms tax records had been unverified and as such were not to be trusted, Judge Krupa decided that the vapor rooms  ”COGS” was more likely in the neighborhood of 75% of their total operating expense for both years.

Colorado HB 1358 to fund police computer access to patient database | Marijuana.com

HB 1358, a bill that would shift $9.7 million in medical marijuana registry fund money to the struggling Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division, passed the House Appropriations committee today, paving the way for a floor vote. The Representative Beth McCann-sponsored measure upsets activists, who say the money should be used to benefit patients or be refunded. But most haven't noticed language tucked into the proposal that earmarks $93,000 for a computer system that will allow law enforcement to access the MMJ patient registry.

Best Marijuana Argument Ever Given By Superior Court Judge James P. Gray

According to a March 2007 article in The Lancet, a peer-reviewed medical journal, alcohol and tobacco are more physically harmful and addictive than marijuana. After considering this research, why is marijuana outlawed when two legal controlled substances – tobacco and alcohol – are more harmful and addictive? Drunk driving-related deaths and lung cancer are much more devastating than any stigma or effect of marijuana, yet many Americans turn a blind eye to this.

US: Obama Explains Increasing Medical Marijuana Crackdowns, Raids In 'Rolling Stone' Interview | Marijuana.com

"What I specifically said was that we were not going to prioritize prosecutions of persons who are using medical marijuana," Obama said. "I never made a commitment that somehow we were going to give carte blanche to large-scale producers and operators of marijuana -- and the reason is, because it's against federal law."
The president continued: "I can't nullify congressional law. I can't ask the Justice Department to say, 'Ignore completely a federal law that's on the books.' What I can say is, 'Use your prosecutorial discretion and properly prioritize your resources to go after things that are really doing folks damage.' As a consequence, there haven't been prosecutions of users of marijuana for medical purposes."

Obama then shifted gears away from marijuana, saying that a "broader debate" on

I can't believe I voted for this duche and the primary reason was his statement on medical marijuana states.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice... well you know how it goes!

J1: Photos and Strain Review | Marijuana.com

If you’re a Sativa kind of guy (or gal) then you should get acquainted with J1. While I’ve seen the cross between Jack Herer and Skunk #1 labelled as a Hybrid, it is definitely an extremely Sativa-dominant hybrid. J1 has that potent lemony zest/citrus punch that is present in all strong Sativas. When you open your medicine jar of J1, your sinuses will get unclogged rather quickly. And you’ll be met with these beautiful, triched out nugs.

Plan would grow marijuana in former Mich. mine | Marijuana.com

Plan would grow marijuana in former Mich. mine | Marijuana.com

TheTimesHearld | 4.23.2012 | AP

A Canadian biotechnology company that’s been growing plants underground for more than a decade at a former copper mine in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula wants to cultivate medical marijuana at the site.

The Detroit Free Press reports Prairie Plant Systems Inc. has a contract to supply medical marijuana in Canada and would need approval from state and federal officials to convert the mine in White Pine. Brent Zettl, the company’s president and CEO, notes the idea has major regulatory hurdles.
Michigan voters approved medical marijuana use in 2008.

The company and its Michigan subsidiary SubTerra currently use the mine for plant-based pharmaceutical research. Prairie Plant Systems says it could employ 200 to 300 at the mine if the plan goes through.
The mine shut down in the 1990s.

NL: Amsterdam’s pot shops fighting for right to party | Marijuana.com

Dutch coffee shop owners went to court last week in a last ditch bid to block a government plan to stop foreigners from buying marijuana in the Netherlands.

Lawyers representing the coffee shops oppose what would be the most significant change in decades to the country’s famed soft drug tolerance: turning marijuana cafes into “members only” clubs open solely to Dutch residents.

Members would only be able to get into the coffee shops by registering for a “weed pass,” and the shops would only be allowed a maximum of 2,000 members.

The move comes into force in the south of the country May 1 and is scheduled to roll out nationwide on Jan. 1, 2013.
Whether it will be enforced in Amsterdam, whose coffee shops are a major tourist draw card, remains to be seen.

The city has strongly opposed the pass idea and Mayor Eberhard van der Laan says he wants to negotiate a workable compromise with the country’s Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten.
